Khusro Bagh Allahabad

Khusro Bagh was built as the pleasure garden for Prince Salim (Mughal Emperor Akbar’s son). Emperor Jahangir (1605-27). Salim later become the Emperor Jahangir from 1605 to 1627. This garden was constructed when Prince Salim rebelled against his father Akbar and took refuge here in 1599. The Khusro bagh is a well protected walled garden. It surrounds the three tombs of the Jehangir’s family. The three tombs belong to Shah Begum (Jahangir’s first wife), Khusrau Mirza (Jahangir’s eldest son) and Princess Sultan Nithar Begam (Jahangir’s daughter). In the 17th century, they were buried within this garden. Salim employed the country’s best artisans to construct these tombs. It is said that Jahangir’s eldest son was murdered by his own brother Shah Jahan, Also his mother poisoned herself and died an unnatural death. However, the Jahangir spared no expense on the tombs. The garden itself is famous for guava & mango trees.

Khusro Bagh Timings-

This garden is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. Anyone can take a trip of the garden’s premises within 45 minutes to an hour.

This garden is easily reachable by a taxi or auto-rickshaw.
